7 years I've spent on the scene in Sheffield so far and I've seen it all come and go. New Clubs Open, then close, a new one comes and goes. Nothing seems to last here at all. Sheffield is meant to be what the 4th or 5th most populated city in the UK and the gay scene is pants. At one point it were rather good and though a few years ago we hardly had anything and then a new club called Fuel opened and it could have been a good turn around for the scene in Sheffield. Just over 2 years later and its closing night will be this Saturday and then Fuel in no more. So once Fuel is gone we have Dempseys, a pub in the daytime with a small club upstairs for the night. Its not greatly busy on a Fri or a Sat. Then there is Lions Lair which is just a pub and then Club Xes open on a night which is now mainly straight populated. Thats all we have, oh of course not forgetting Climax, which is once a month. So for a city this is all the gay scene has to offer. I guess we shall have to see what the new opening club brings to Sheffield even though that is out in the middle of no where. It also makes no wonder why people would not wanna go out in the city when there is nothing to be that proud of. Look at Manchester, Leeds, Brighton, London and Newcastle, they have it all.
