So after 2 people dropped out the remaining ones, Katy, Claire and Lucy arrived at mine around 7.30 to join me, John and Peter. The limo driver called at 8 and off we went. I could see the pink limo out the window with the blue lights on. Wow, inside was really nice, and the lights and the seats, the driver how ever was rather rude, boring and just not interested.
We got the 4 bottles of bubbly but no camera as advised, but still I enjoyed the one hour drive around town before stopping at 9 so that we could then go off for the meal. Here we were met by my manager Andrea and here husband so that did make the numbers back up to 8.
We managed to get some tables together to accomodate us all. The place was called Zizzis in a little square secluded from the roads and stuff. A very nice place to eat indeed, the staff were so friendly, the food was really nice and you could see the food been cooked in the open, which is always nice to see. The place itself was warm and cosy and somewhere I would deffo eat again. I'd say its likely to be one of the nicest places I've had food before. We had a couple of drinks too and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
It came to dessert, which only a few of us had and even I struggled with this after already having a starter and the main. As she brought the dessert the waiter began singing Happy Birthday so they all joined in and she had even had Happy Birthday wrote on the plate the dessert came on.
So after been at Zizzy's for around 2 hours, it was time for the bill to arrive. We all sat there wondering what was going off when my manager paid for it all. We just thought she wanted the money back but she didn't. She had just paid out between £150 and £200 for a meal for 8 with half the people she had never met. It shocked most of us especially me I did not know what to say especially as it were really unexpected and very generous for someone to do so I were really grateful for what she had just done. It did take me back and left me a little speechless mind.
So anyway, Andrea and husband went off home. Lucy then went off home and the rest of us went to Dempsey's. The atmosphere in here was awful and we stayed around 15 minutes before going off to Xes. Again it was just as bad here, and full of straight people. Katy said it was like Where's Wally trying to find a gay person in a gay club. Anyway Claire then left to get back to her little one. As the time approcahed 1am even me and Katy and given up on the night. We had enjoyed ourselves that we wanted to leave feeling happy and not stay out and end up ruining the night because there was not way we could enjoy ourselves in Xes tonight. Something just did not feel right. So shortley after 1am we both left. John stayed there till around 4am.
So anyway overall I enjoyed myself, it was a nice birthday that I've had. I think I'll have to take my manager for lunch to say thanks or buy her some chocolates or something. Today I've been chilled out on the sofa recovering and will stay that way till I go to bed and tomorrow me and John are off to the cinema to see Cloverfield.
